I hope this will answer most of your questions about C-Script.
á
Q: Who is SethD?
A: SethD is a 17 year old homeschooled Christian male in a very rural area of Crossville, Tennessee. SethD lives on a farm of 81+ acres and has horses, chickens, geese, peacocks, dogs, cats, and various snakes, lizards, skunks, etc. SethD enjoys skating, tap dancing, acting, and just about anything computer related.
á
Q: How can I put my own stuff into C-Script, without it being re-written if I upgrade?
A: Simple. Open C-Script and press Alt-R. Click on File -> New. A new blank file will appear in the editbox named "script.mrc". Put all your custom popups, aliases, events, ctcps, etc. in this file.
Remember the following:
Prefix with "on" for events.
Prefix with "alias" for aliases AND custom identifiers.
Prefix with "ctcp" for CTCPs.
Prefix with "raw" for raw events.
Prefix with "menu channel" for Channel popups.
Prefix with "menu nicklist" for Nickname List popups.
Prefix with "menu status" for Status Window popups.
Prefix with "menu query" for Status Window popups.
All custom popups will appear on the BOTTOM of the popup menu.
When upgrading, C-Script will NOT overwrite your script.mrc. However, you will need to RELOAD your script.mrc after you upgrade by pressing Alt-R, and clicking on File -> Load Script, then finding your script.mrc (probably in \C-Script\Sysfiles\Remote).
Also keep in mind that if you modify anything in any of the files included with C-Script, your modifications will be lost if you upgrade!
á
Q: Why should I send you money and what will you do with it if I do?
á
A: C-Script (as you might imagine) takes up a VERY large portion of my time.
á
áááSometimes I wonder if it is even worth it. However, when I receive a letter of thanks, or money, I know I am not giving most of my life to C-Script for nothing!
á
áááMoney received for C-Script will go toward future versions, ISP charges (My ISP Charge is horrible way out here!), and software registration fees (WinZip/mIRC/Other stuff that helps me be able to create C-Script).
á
áááAlso, one of my dreams has always been to be able to provide a Domain Name for C-Script (www.C-Script.com). As you probably know, Domain Web Hosting is very expensive (about $ 350 a year) and with my ISP charge on top of that, it's horrible. However, due to the constant support that current C-Script users have given me, I was finally able to get www.C-Script.com available to C-Script users. My only problem now is being able to keep it available.
á
áááIf everyone that uses C-Script just sent me a dollar, I am sure I would have enough money to keep the domain name up. A dollar is not too much to ask, and it will go toward a good cause! If you have money laying around, or are just a nice person who would like to help C-Script out, please send some money. It doesn't matter if you send one dollar, or fifty dollars, what mattersáis how many people actually send me money.

Q: What is the C-Team?
á
A: The C-Team is a team of Christian mIRC Scripters who spend their mIRC scripting time working on C-Script.
á
áááFor more information, try the C-Team web page at:
á
áááhttp://www.c-script.com/c-team.htm
á
Q: Who is the C-Team?
á
A: The C-Team currently consists of 3 members:
á
áááSethD: C-Team leader and original creator of C-Script.
ááásOulbAit: C-Team member and C-Beta Team leader.
jCd: C-Team member/secondary coder.
á
áááC-Team contact information:
á
áááSethD: SethD@C-Script.com
ááásOulbAit: sOulbAit@C-Script.com
jCd: jCd@C-Script.com
á
áááOn IRC, C-Team members usually are on C-Script's OFFICIAL IRC server:
á
áááirc.c-script.com
áááPorts: 6660-6669 and 7000
Q: I've forgotten my password and now C-Script won't let me in! HELP!
á
A: C-Script's password protection is really meant to keep "little sister" or "big brother" that really doesn't know much about mIRC from getting into your mIRC files. What I mean is it isn't very secure, and someone who has access to your computer and knows what they are doing can get your password easily.
á
áááTo find your password, follow these steps:
á
ááá1. Open the file "vars.mrc" in your \C-Script\ directory with a text editor/viewer.
ááá2. Scroll down until you see the variable "%csmspass"
ááá3. The variable value will be your password. For example, if you see "%csmspass test" your password is test.
A: What probably happened is you accidentally turned your MAX protection on. To get everything back to normal, follow these steps:
á
ááá1. In mIRC, press "Alt-O" and mIRC's Options box should pop up.
ááá2. In the Options box, click on the tab that says "Control".
ááá3. There will now be a box that should display several addresses in it. Completely remove all the addresses from this box.
ááá4. Press "OK".
ááá5. After the options window goes away, press "F9".
á
áááThat should fix the problem!
á
Q: Why do you have the default mIRC font set as Arial 9PT Regular?
á
A: I went through every single font I had on my computer to find one that:
á
ááá1. Could handle ASCII characters like "å" and "".
ááá2. Did not distort normal ASCII Art.
ááá3. Was at least somewhat nice looking.
áááand
ááá4. Was commonly found on most computers, and not an exotic font you
áááwould need to download separately.
á
áááArial was the ONLY font I found that matched the above.
á
Q: Why can't I get the C-Script Bible to quote Bible verses?
á
A: You must download the Bible verses at:
á
áááhttp://www.c-script.com/files/kjv.zip
á
áááThen, unzip the kjv.zip into the \C-Scirpt\Addons\Bible\kjv\ directory.
á
áááAfter you have done the above, the Bible files should work.
á
Q: What about the NIV?
á
A: The NIV version of the Bible is copyrighted, and the International Bible Society will not give me permission to use it.
á
Q: How do I disable (or turn Off) something?
á
A: Most of the settings are located in your menubar popups under the popup "C-Script Commands" --> Settings.
á
áááStill can't find your group? Open up C-Script's online help system by typing "/chelp" in a window in C-Script. Browse through it and you might find extra information about that feature.
á
Q: Why do you have those "thanks to" and "references" in your script? Are you ripping?
á
A: Whenever anyone has offered their services to help C-Script, and created some code that I have included in C-Script. I have tried to give that person credit for their work.
á
áááI have also included various addons in C-Script (What are addons for?) giving credit for the addon to the author of the addon.
á
áááI have also gotten some of the cool ideas that are in C-Script from other awesome scripts. To keep the peace, and out of respect to the author, I have given the author of the script that I got the idea from credit for it.
á
áááPlease note that this is most definitely not ripping.
á
Q: Can I become part of the C-Team?
á
A: Right now the C-Team is a very closed team.
á
áááIf you hang around in #C-Script on irc.C-Script.com enough though, we will consider you for the "C-Help Team". If you continue to show yourself to know a lot about C-Script, and be a good coder, we will then consider you as a C-BETA Team Member. If you STILL look good, then we will consider you as a C-Team Member. =)
á
áááPlease remember that the C-Team is a team of Christian mIRC scripters.
á
Q: I've found a bug! What do I do now?
á
A: PLEASE report all bugs you find ASAP. If there is a bug in C-Script, than it is a bug the C-Team probably does not know about! There are some people that assume we already know about bugs. I can assure you that we do not release a new version of C-Script with bugs in it on purpose!
á
áááTo report bugs, try one of the following:
á
ááá1. Type "/comments".
ááá2. Log on to C-Script's IRC server (irc.c-script.com) and try to find a C-Team member (try #C-Script).
ááá3. Email a C-Team member.
á
Q: What can I do to help C-Script out?
á
A: The #1 thing you can do to help is send me some money ;) (read above).
á
áááIf you are as poor as I am, or have already sent me money but still want to help with C-Script. Any or all of the following would be very helpful:
á
ááá1. Tell your friends about C-Script.
ááá2. Host a C-Script download mirror site.
ááá3. You own an ISP or can offer a shell where we can run a 24/7 PID? I am ALWAYS on the look out for a new shell that I can run IRCd on!
ááá4. Have a link on your web page to C-Script's web page.
ááá5. If you know C-Script well, hang out in #C-Script on IRC and give help to users. That might lead to ops, or maybe even a place in the C-Team!
ááá6. Give C-Team members comments on how C-Script could become better. We try to give you the best script out there, but without feedback, we won't know what you like!
á
Q: What are the optimum system settings for C-Script?
á
A: Everyone's favorite settings will vary. Below is my own desktop configuration:
á
ááá* A Pentium computer running mIRC32.exe on Windows 95
* C-Script located in the c:\C-Script directory
ááá* 17" Monitor with 32-bit Color palette, 800x600 pixels desktop area, and Font Size at Small Fonts
ááá* TitleBar font set as Comic Sans MS 8PT Regular
ááá* PopupMenu font set as Comic Sans MS 8PT Regular
á
Q: What if my question is not listed in this FAQ?
á
A: Try one of these:
á
ááá1. Browse through C-Script's online help system by typing "/chelp" in a window in C-Script.
ááá2. Log on to C-Script's IRC server (irc.c-script.com) and try to find a C-Team member (try #C-Script).
